New President of the Rotary Club of East Kilbride Charles Devennie's first official duty on the 6th of July 2018 was to introduce a new member to the club at the weekly lunchtime meeting at the Bruce Hotel. Ron James, a retired electronics engineer, was given a warm welcome by the members present.
Ron, previously a member of the Rotary Club of East Kilbride Kittoch, recently took part in the Purple4Polio Rotary Grand Tour, an event held over two days. Day one saw Ron and his co-driver John McIlhagger travel to St Andrews in a 1969 MGB roadster and on day two they travelled to Drumlanrig Castle, this time in a more modern Mazda MX5. Ron presented the club with a cheque for £500 which had been raised through sponsorship and which is to be passed on to the Rotary end polio appeal.
